About Matt Schumacher

I have over 40 years experience performing and teaching music. I have toured and recorded all over the country, with some of Nashville’s top acts including Tim McGraw, Kenny Chesney and Phil Vassar along with Pop/Rock bands like Huey Lewis and The News and ZZ Top. I have a Bachelor of Arts degree in music performance and stage presence from The University of Michigan.

Even though I have been blessed to play all over the world, my heart belongs to teaching. Learning an instrument can seem intimidating at first, but I believe, like anything else in life, the reward come to those who are willing to put in the time and practice.

At Fiddling Around Music Lessons, I incorporate a wide variety of instruction methods.

  • I pay close attention to each student’s needs, crafting instructions and lesson plans based on the individual needs. Not every person learns the same way.

  • Check-ins via phone or text message between lessons - I will check in mid-week to see how you are doing. This helps to eliminate frustration to keep you on track, motivated and inspired!

  • I share my joy and excitement with you, so you can develop your own passion for music!

  • I teach the proven Suzuki method, which focuses on the musical language, utilizing both the ear, and visual reading to learn!

You can do this! Whether you have been playing for years, or struggle to even play the radio, I have a method that will work for you!
